From the President

Salvete MCHS Latin Students,

Congratulations on your enlistment into the MCHS Latin program. As a Latin student, you are offered a number of opportunities, along with the numerous academic advances you will be making in English, science, and history. Hopefully by the end of the year, you will love and respect this language as much as I do.

The Junior Classical League incorporates the past into our present and future. All Latin students are encouraged to participate in this thriving organization with no fees required for membership. In fact, if you are currently enrolled in a Latin course, you are already a member! There are multiple ways in which you will benefit after joining JCL. You will gain a strong sense of community, because MCJCL is full of a fantastic group of Latin students. From athletes to flute players, everyone unites as one in order to weave the tapestry of JCL. The Junior Classical League volunteers at a number of events throughout the year, and we try our best to spread the friendly hand of JCL to our community. As a member, you are also invited to go to the State and National JCL conventions, where you and other Latin students across the state and country gather to celebrate the Classics and show support for its prosperity. Remember you must have above a C average to attend conventions.

Our mission this year is to increase the participation of Latin students in JCL. My personal job is to make everyone more excited about this beautiful organization and raise awareness of all the opportunities it provides. Throughout the year, I will keep you guys posted on JCL events and do not be afraid to stop me in the hallway to ask questions.
